The decision was made earlier this week by the Alcorn School District Board of Education to hand over a quick claim deed on a portion of district-owned land to the Town of Rienzi. The vote met no opposition.
In August, school board attorney Arch Bullard said the district only owned “one tract of land in Rienzi which has road frontage and school buildings.” The second tract with some portion of a building had already reverted to the Town of Rienzi.
The board also voted to give a bill of sale to the town on remaining personal property inside the school buildings.
No decision was made public concerning Glendale school property.
A source close to the situation said the district is currently “in talks” with both the Town of Glen and a commercial business owner about the sale of the property.
