The Alcorn County Board of Supervisors on Monday approved proceeding with a tax anticipation note.

The board accepted the low financing bid from Commerce Bank of 1.25 percent for a $600,000 note.

The loan, which will help the county cover expenses until cash flow improves early next year, will be paid back within six months.

Other bids were Trustmark, 1.47 percent; Farmers and Merchants Bank, 2.19 percent; and BancorpSouth, 2.6 percent.

The tax anticipation note was the only item on the agenda for the special meeting.
