Almost five months out, organizers of the 8th Annual Corinth Civil War Relic Show and Sale are busy putting together the biggest show in the event’s history.

The biggest change will be moving the event inside the Crossroads Arena from the convention center upstairs.

“It definitely will be the biggest yet,” said Buddy Ellis, an avid relic hunter and first lieutenant commander of the Col. W.P. Rogers camp of the Songs of Confederate Veterans, the group responsible for organizing the event. “We’ve sold out every year for the last four or five years when we were upstairs.”

Plans are currently to hold the event in the arena’s upper concourse section with the option to move down to the larger arena floor if enough vendors buy tables to necessitate the move.

“It’s time to move into the arena,” Ellis said. “Last year we turned away a bunch of people. We could have sold 25 more tables. We can’t let that happen again.”

Event organizers have already sold approximately 30 tables. By moving the event back a month — it’s usually held in March — organizers will have more time to line up more vendors.

Ellis said between now and then SCV members will attend several relic shows in the region and spread publicity about the Corinth event. The new April date for the relic show will also prevent the event from competing with other relic shows scheduled for April and, hopefully, attract more buyers and sellers.

Between now and April there is still much work to be done. But Ellis and the other SCV members working on the relic show are excited to see just how big this successful annual event can become.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” said Ellis. “We’ll never sell out a place as big as the arena, and it’s going to be interesting to see just how many tables we can sell.”

The relic show and sale will feature a huge variety of Civil War-related items for sale — historical firearms, swords and knives, bullets, clothing, books, display cases, photos, relics of camp life, flags and much more.

The 8th Annual Corinth Civil War Relic Show and Sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Show and sale tables cost $50 until Jan. 1, when the price increases to $55. Tables will go for $60 on the day of the event. Admission is $5. Children under 12 get in free.
