Motorists are encouraged to be extra cautious on South Harper Road as traffic signals are reactivated at an intersection.

The lights at the intersection with Legacy Drive and Getwell Road (the turn to get to the transfer station) are scheduled to be activated Wednesday morning. On Monday, message boards will be in place to alert motorists that the signal will be reactivated. The message will change on Wednesday to indicate the lights are on, and the message boards will stay through the following weekend.

The Alcorn County Board of Supervisors is putting the signalization back into service because of increased industrial traffic. It has been only a flashing caution light for a number of years following Tecumseh’s exit from the industrial building at the intersection.

The board encourages drivers to slow down and approach the intersection with caution as the public gets accustomed to the signals being back in service.

The names Getwell Road and Legacy Drive were assigned in 2014. Getwell Road previously had no name or road number. Legacy Drive was formerly Tecumseh Way.
