Beginning at noon, the event will celebrate the club’s service to the community for over 60 years and feature the Boys & Girls Club national president as guest speaker.
“We would like to welcome people in the community to come out if they have an opportunity and learn more about the Boys & Girl Club,” said Antoine Walker, executive director of the Northeast Mississippi Boys & Girls Club, which is comprised of chapters in Corinth, Iuka, Booneville and Baldwyn.
The reception will recognize those in the community who have supported the Boys & Girls Club over the last year and provide an opportunity for kids who utilize the club to speak.
“We’re going to give the kids an opportunity to speak and tell their stories about why they love coming to the Boys & Girls Club and how it has impacted their lives,” said Walker.
The guest speaker for the event will be Boys & Girls Clubs of America President and CEO Jim Clark, who will visit the Corinth club while in town and speak to local supporters and donors.
“We are excited that Jim Clark is coming to our small town, and we’re looking forward to all the great programs and activities we’re doing at the club,” said Trecee Hughey, unit director of the Corinth Boys & Girls Club.
Under Clark’s leadership the Boys & Girls Club of America is emphasizing service to clubs in the areas of child protection and safety, executive and board development, increasing attendance at clubs, boosting high school graduation rates and fighting childhood obesity.
Across America over 4,000 Boys & Girls Clubs serve approximately 4 million young people in all 50 states.
