A spokesperson for victims of sexual and domestic abuse, Miss Black Mississippi U.S. Ambassador 2017 TaNechi Temple is using her platform to help others find their voice. “Statistics show that African Americans are far less likely to seek professional help when dealing with mental health issues as a result of traumatic experiences,” explained Temple. “My goal is to send the message that your mental health is just as important as emotional and spiritual stability. It’s OK to seek counsel through therapy in addition to exercising your faith.” An interventionist, assistant Warrior Band director/color guard and drum instructor at Corinth High School, Temple is preparing to represent Mississippi and compete in the Miss Black U.S. Ambassador Competition, held in July in Orlando. To sponsor Temple and help cover her competition expenses, contact her at 662-643-9369.
