From wildlife hunting to relic hunting, the many hunting hobbies of 61-year-old Joe Caldwell keep him busy on the weekends. Other days he’s even busier holding down the fort as caretaker of the court at the Alcorn County Courthouse. He acts as circuit clerk and county registrar and also manages county marriage licenses and voter polls. In his 18th year, he said he still “loves meeting new people ... I’ve made a lot of new friends. It’s been good. God has been good to me and so have the people of Alcorn County.” Married to Amanda for nine years, Caldwell has three children, Natalie, Morgan and Ben, who is currently the Alcorn County sheriff. Caldwell also has four grandchildren. The couple are members of First Baptist Church.
