The Alcorn County Genealogical Society will host a set of new classes this spring, following two successful offerings in 2016.

Anyone interested in starting genealogy research to discover their family’s roots are asked to consider attending the April sessions. Those who are currently researching and require help to move forward are also encouraged to attend.

Held from 10 a.m. until 1 or 1:30 p.m., in the Ministry Center of Tate Baptist Church, the classes will be divided into four Saturday sessions on April 1 and 8; and April 22 and 29.

“We recommend participants bring a light lunch with them since we’ll teach through the lunch time,” said Gale Judkins of the Alcorn County Genealogy Society.

Though organizers will continue teaching through lunch, a couple of short breaks will be given.

“We have some excellent guest speakers lined up and will be giving several handouts that will be helpful to participants,” said Judkins. “Plenty of time for questions and answers will also be allotted.”

The cost to attend is $25 per person which is payable by mail or at the door. Advance payment in the form of a check should be mailed to ACGS, P.O. Box 1808, Corinth MS 38835-1808.

(Those interested in attending the informational sessions should send an email to, or call 662-808-0616. Tate Baptist Church is located on the corner of Harper Road and 3rd Street in Corinth.)
