Free Medical Clinic

The Living Healthy Free Medical Clinic provides free medical treatment for residents who have no insurance and are unable to pay. The clinic welcomes adults and children age 12 and up.

The clinic is located at 2601 Getwell Road, Suite 3 next to Physician's Urgent Care. During the months of November and December only, it is open 1-5 p.m. the first Wednesday and the third Saturday. The regular schedule of the second Wednesday and fourth Saturday will resume in January.

Fish on Friday

From 4 to 6 p.m. every Friday, the Easom Foundation will sell eat-in or carry-out farm-fed catfish dinners for $6 to support the hot meals program. The meal includes coleslaw or salad, French fries or roasted potatoes, hush puppies, catfish and a dessert.

The Easom Foundation is located in the Easom Community Center, formerly South Corinth School, behind Taco Bell.

VFW Post 3962

The Post is selling tickets for a New Year's Eve party on Monday, Dec. 31. Hank the D.J. will be performing beginning at 8 p.m. Cost is $13 per person for members or $15 per person for non-members. The Post will hold its monthly meetings at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month with a Fellowship Brunch. The VFW and VFW Auxiliary will have a joint meeting at 7 p.m. The Post is located at 1 Purdy School Road in Corinth.

Holiday Garbage Schedule

The City of Corinth Public Works Department has announced its New Year Holiday Garbage Route Schedule.

The week of New Year's: Monday and Tuesday routes will be picked up on Wednesday, Jan. 2; Wednesday's route will be picked up Thursday, Jan. 2; Wednesday's route will be picked up on Thursday, Jan. 3; Thursday and Friday's route will be picked up on Friday, Jan. 4.

NARFE Meeting

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Jacinto Chapter 1879, will meet at The Dinner Bell Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3. All active and retired federal employees are encouraged to participate.

First Day Hikes

The "Big Hill" First Day Hike will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1 at Big Hill Pond State Park. There will also be a First Day Hike at 3 p.m. at Pickwick Landing State Park and 10 a.m. at Tishomingo State Park.

The First Day Hikes are designed for all ages and abilities. Tennessee State Parks' First Hikes are part of America's State Parks First Day Hikes initiative in all 50 states, including Mississippi.

Fellowship Meal

The next Easom Foundation Community Fellowship Meal will be held from noon-2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6 at the Easom Community Center located at 700 South Crater Street behind Taco Bell.

Chef Ben Betts' menu includes fried chicken, hamburger steak, fried tenderloin, dressing, green beans, squash casserole, potato salad, banana pudding, chocolate delight, rolls and drinks.

Cost is $10 for adults and all carry-outs and $5 for children under nine for dine-in only.

Eat Smart Program

The University of Tennessee Extension in McNairy County is offering a free program for adults. It is designed to teach knowledge and skills that help individuals and families choose a healthy diet and active lifestyle. People will learn and obtain recipes that are healthy, tasty, inexpensive and kid friendly. Classes will include food demonstrations, giveaways and an opportunity to taste a variety of meals. Trip to Savannah, Charleston

The Selmer Senior Center will take a trip on March 24-29 to Savannah, Ga. and Charleston, S.C. Double occupancy rate is $684 per person and a $75 deposit is due when a reservation is placed. Balance is due Jan. 17. Call Rowena Pope at 731-645-7843 for more information.

Just Plain Country

Live band Just Plain Country performs every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. at the Tishomingo County Fairgrounds in Iuka. Join for a night of dancing and clean, family fun. Only $5 admission to help cover expenses.

Sharing Hearts

Sharing Hearts is an adult care program offering a one day a week day care for adults suffering from Alzheimer's or any other form of dementia. Volunteers and participants meet each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, located at 501 Main Street in Corinth. For more information, call Melinda Grady at 662-808-2206.

The program is designed to offer caregivers a day of rest and their family members a day of caring supervision along with music, games, lunch, exercise and crafts, all designed to entertain and provide social interaction.

Legacy Hospice

Legacy Hospice is looking for caring and compassionate volunteers to spend time with patients and families in the surrounding area to provide companionship, friendship, and support to patients and families.

Volunteers are also need in our office to place phone calls, file, make gifts for our patients and participate in community event. Volunteering is a great way to enhance resumes and gain community service hours. Exercise Class

The Boys and Girls Club is holding an exercise class for women on Monday and Wednesday nights at 6:15 p.m.

Gloria's Country Line Dancers

Gloria's Country Line Dance lessons will be held for advanced and beginners from 6-8 p.m. each Tuesday night at the American Legion Post 6 located on South Tate Street.


The Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees "SOAR" will have regular monthly meetings every second Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Union Hall. These are retirees of Intex-MS Polymer Plastic's Plant.

American Legion Post 6

• American Legion Post 6, located on South Tate St. will have Bingo every Tuesday and Friday. Tuesday doors open at 10 a.m. and games begin at noon. Friday doors will open at 4 p.m. and games will begin at 6:30 p.m. A full concession stand will be available. Senior Bingo will be held at 10 a.m. every Monday for $5. Lunch is provided.

• American Legion Post 6 will hold their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. with a potluck meal on the 2nd Thursday of each month.

Musicians Needed

A volunteer opportunity is available for a guitar or banjo musician to play with a band as part of a nursing home ministry during special programs held at 2 p.m. twice a month at Cornerstone and Mississippi Care Center. For more information call 662-287-3560.

Cross City Piecemakers Quilt Guild

Food Pantry/Clothes Closet

Antioch Baptist Church food pantry and clothes closet is open every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The church is located at Alcorn County Road 518, Rienzi.
