Corinth Police responded to the wreck on U.S. Highway 72 and KC Parkway around 5:35 a.m. where one semi had rear-ended another in the busy eastbound lane.
Michael McCommon of Toone, Tenn., driver of a 2005 International semi hauling sawmill chips, was turning east from KC Parkway onto U.S. 72 when he collided with the rear bumper of a 1997 Freightliner semi hauling sawmill dust driven by James Egbert of Adamsville, Tenn. Egbert was traveling in the left lane on the eastbound side of the highway at the time of impact.
McCommon was transported via Magnolia EMS ambulance to Magnolia Regional Health Center with minor to moderate injuries. The impact caused major damage to the front of McCommon’s truck.
McCommon told police Egbert’s trailer “wasn’t very visible” and said the trailer “blended with the color of the gray sky.”
Officers with the Mississippi Department of Transportation assisted Corinth PD on the wreck. A unit from the Corinth Fire Department also responded.
Portions of the highway remained closed most of the day as cleanup crews cleared debris from the roadway.
