The Corinth Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting in the area of the J.B. Combs Apartments Monday night.

Quantavious Fernando, 17, was shot in the Dorsey Street area, said Capt. Dell Green. He was treated at Magnolia Regional Health Center and released.

Fernando told police a gold passenger car drove through the area, and an occupant of the vehicle fired several shots toward him. One bullet struck him in the leg, and the vehicle fled the scene.

There are no suspects in the shooting, which happened about 10 p.m.

It was the second shooting the police department investigated on Monday. Jamar Allen, the suspect in a shooting of two individuals at 2:30 a.m. Monday at 1219 Mitchell Street, remains at large. He is a 30-year-old black male standing approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 145 pounds. The police department is also seeking him in connection with a prior assault case.

One of the victims in the 2:30 a.m. shooting, Charity Payne, 28, of 1219 Mitchell Street, has since been released from Magnolia Regional Health Center, said Green. The other victim, Larry Hope, 28, of Byhalia, was treated at Regional One in Memphis and released on Monday.

Allen had been at the Mitchell Street residence prior to the shooting, and a physical altercation occurred. He returned later and fired shots into the home, striking the two victims.

With another individual, Allen is accused of assaulting and holding a subject against his will on Dec. 21. The second suspect, Terence Alexander, 28, of Cass Street, was arrested on Jan. 31.

To report information about either case, contact Corinth PD at 286-3377 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-773-tips.
