The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate a weekend shooting.

Sheriff Ben Caldwell told the Daily Corinthian the victim was 22-year-old Rick Dakota Holt of County Road 761, Corinth. He was shot once in the arm.

A shooting suspect remains in custody. The sheriff identified the suspect as 22-year-old Christopher Clance of Tishomingo County.

Aggravated assault charges are pending and the investigation continues, said Caldwell.

“We are still sorting out the details,” he said.

The shooting happened around 6 p.m. Friday in Baxter’s Trailer Park at County Road 520. Clance showed up at the residence and a physical altercation developed.

Several shots were fired and one shot hit Holt, he said.

It wasn’t clear if Holt was part of the altercation, said the sheriff.

The shooting victim was taken by private vehicle to Magnolia Regional Health Center, were he was treated and released, said Caldwell.
