A Fulton woman died in a crash involving a vehicle backing out of a driveway just south of Corinth Thursday evening.

Sheriff Ben Caldwell said Charlotte Vandergriff, 55, died in the 6:14 p.m. crash on County Road 400 (Salem Road) near the intersection with County Road 405 (Camp Warriner Road).

Vandergriff was the driver of a southbound 1991 Honda Accord. The driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was attempting to back out of a driveway. Caldwell said the southbound Honda struck the Chevrolet head-on near the center of the roadway.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not taken to the hospital. With five passengers among the two vehicles, one other person was transported to the hospital.

The sheriff said the crash appears to be an unfortunate accident.

“We always encourage people to drive with caution and wear your seat belt,” said Caldwell.
