The investigation continues into a Tuesday morning shooting in Glen which left an Alcorn County man shot in the leg and two other local men arrested for aggravated assault.

Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell told the Daily Corinthian the shooting victim was 42-year-old Benny Ray Ross of Alcorn County Road 246. The shooting happened about 11 a.m. on the property of the victim’s estranged wife, he said.

Ross was airlifted from the scene via Air Evac. Hospital of destination was not known.

A father and son have been charged with aggravated assault. The sheriff identified one suspect as 39-year-old Brandon Mincey of Alcorn County Road 344. He is charged with shooting the victim, said the sheriff.

The second suspect is charged with striking the victim with a gun. The sheriff identified him as 59-year-old Billy Mincey of East Second Street in Corinth.

“The shooting is related to a family disturbance,” said Caldwell.

No bond had been set for either Mincey as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
