Corinth woman dies in wreck

A Corinth woman was killed early Monday morning in one-vehicle wreck near Walnut.

Thirty-four-year-old Theresa M. Dixon of Corinth received fatal injuries in the wreck which happened at approximately 2:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 72 in Tippah County.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Ray Hall, 36-year-old Nathaniel D. Dixon of Corinth was traveling east on Highway 72, when he lost control of his 2001 Chevrolet. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

Nathaniel Dixon was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Theresa Dixon was a passenger in the vehicle and died on the scene.

Family members told the Daily Corinthian that Mrs. Dixon was driving the vehicle and Nathan remains in the ICU unit at The Med in Memphis.

Dixon is minister at West Corinth Pentecostal Tabernacle, where Mrs. Dixon taught children's church.

Mrs. Dixon was a teacher's assistant at Kossuth Elementary School.

The wreck remains under investigation with MHP.
