A Corinth man is charged with one count felony malicious mischief stemming from an accident where a vehicle ran into a house in Booneville.

Darvis Darnell Cole, 32, of 424 Cemetery St., Corinth, was arrested by Corinth Police last week and transported to the Prentiss County jail on the felony charge and some misdemeanor charges, said Booneville Police Chief Michael Ramey.

He is accused of being involved in an accident where a vehicle ran into a house at the intersection of Ninth Street and Suburban Drive, causing several thousand dollars worth of damage to the house.

“It appears Cole had taken this vehicle he was driving without permission and was involved in this accident in January,” Ramey said.

“After being involved in the accident he fled the scene and was arrested June 8 in Corinth.”

In a separate, unrelated arrest, Booneville PD arrested Julie D. Merchant, 40, of 209 Pierce Drive, Booneville, on a charge of breaking and entering a dwelling.

She is accused of breaking into a residence at 2016 South Second Street in Booneville and taking some clothes and other items.
