According to a report from the Corinth Police Department, the accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when a 2002 yellow, Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Bradley Sanders, 43, of Corinth, collided with a 1999 gray, Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Jerry Doles, 68, of Parsons, Tenn.
The report states Sanders’ vehicle was traveling eastbound in the inside lane on U.S. Highway 72. Doles’ vehicle was stopped at the exit of Virginia Lane, waiting to make a left turn onto U.S. Highway 72 to travel westbound.
Doles’ vehicle pulled out onto U.S. Highway 72 and started to head westbound, according to the report, and Sanders tried to avoid hitting Doles and went into the center turn lane.
Doles’ truck hit Sanders’ motorcycle in the right side with its front bumper, causing the motorcycle to slide under the truck’s front bumper. This reportedly occurred while both vehicles were in the center turn lane.
Sanders was ejected from the motorcycle and slid across both westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 72, stopping in the outside westbound lane.
Authorities said Tuesday evening, Sanders was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. The Daily Corinthian has learned from a family member Sanders sustained multiple injuries.
