Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell told the Daily Corinthian the suspect was Susan Iwema, an employee of Texas-based CBM Food Services, the company which has the contract to provide meals for inmates.
The official charge is conspiracy to commit a crime for sexual activity between an employee and an inmate. Iwema was arrested Wednesday and bond was set at $3,000. She remained in jail Friday morning.
“She has been banned from the facility,” said Caldwell.
It was not quite clear if the contract company terminated the cook, he said.
The case is being investigated by the staff at the regional prison.
