Speed is believed to have been a factor in a one-vehicle wreck that sent a man to the hospital.

Officials said a Ford Mustang left the roadway around 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon about one mile from the Rienzi crossing on Highway 45 in Alcorn County. The vehicle entered the median and rolled several times before coming to rest in a ditch. The vehicle was heading north bound prior to the crash.

Witnesses told authorities the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the highway.

The driver of the Mustang was transported to Magnolia Regional Health Center via Magnolia EMS ambulance with unknown injuries. Officials said he was alert.

Alcorn County Constable Wayne Duncan, Biggersville Fire & Rescue personnel and Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene.
