MADISON – A different trip ended with the same result.
Corinth advanced to the Class 1A/2A/3A State Championship with its second 2-0 win of the year against Madison St. Joe.
The Warriors will play for the championship versus Sacred Heart on Friday at 6 p.m. at Clinton High School.
“We put everything together and played as one,” said CHS Head Coach Gregg Parker. “They were outstanding on a muddy, muddy field.”
Corinth (20-1-2) claimed its 16th straight victory and moved to 10-0-1 on the road this year.
CHS took an early 1-0 lead when John Mathis scored his 40th goal of the year in the opening half. The Warriors, who led 1-0 at the half, added a John Foropoulos goal late in the second half for the clincher.
“Some of these guys have been working four years for this and it was good to see them come together in a game that mattered,” said Parker.
