Whose to blame, now?

I’m sick and tired of hearing nothing is being done about the oil spill. President Obama turned down help from 13 nations because he refused to drop the Jones Act. Bush dropped it in two days after Katrina. The coast guard refused to let barges in with oil skimmers because they didn’t have enough life vests . . .

This president is trying to make it as bad as it can get so he can get his Cap and Trade passed. If that goes through, our energy bills will go up with one of his hidden taxes. He wants to turn our nation into a socialist nation. Everything he was elected on was a lie: Transparency, no behind closed door deals, no signing bills with earmarks, posting all bills on the Whitehouse Web site, a new Washington . . .

Come November our voices will be heard — but President Obama will still blame it on President Bush.

Drive with caution

The railroad crossing on Harper Road between Corinth High School and Proper Street is so rough you almost have to stop your vehicle to cross it. Are there plans to lower and smooth this crossing?

Anyone who hasn’t experienced this crossing, please do so; however, drive with caution.

Election year activity

It must be election year in the City of Corinth because I haven’t seen this much street paving since the last City election. Maybe we should have elections every year.

Not enough 'skills?'

I would like to address the fact that the soldiers from our home town came home in March and over half of them are unemployed. The factories and businesses in Corinth say they support our military but when it comes down to it they only want people with “skills.” How do you expect these young men to have “skills” when most of them go into the military straight out of high school and then they’re sent overseas to fight for your freedom?

These young men can’t get the “skills” they need for the jobs open because they aren’t in the country to work. When they are in the country, they can’t get a job because they don’t have “skills.” Is serving your country not enough “skills” for a chance at a decent job?

‘Stop’ or ‘Yield’ signs?

I have been wondering when did stop signs at intersections become yield signs? I’ve noticed many people in and around town who don’t even check up at a stop sign and plow right into traffic. I couldn’t tell you how many near wrecks I’ve witnessed at Wheeler Grove Road where it and Hwy. 45 meet.

People act like they’re in such a hurry to go somewhere but don’t take time to think about pulling out in front of someone who may be carrying their families and little children. All I’m saying is wake up and obey the law. It’s there for a reason.
